A statement from City Hearts

In light of recent allegations raised by members of the Hope City Church congregation in Sheffield, and subsequent admissions of racism by senior pastor David Gilpin, City Hearts trustees are in the process of legally separating the charity from its church connection.

We have today accepted the resignation of City Hearts founder Jenny Gilpin from her role as global strategist.

Ed Newton, CEO, says “I want to make clear the allegations and admissions do not relate to City Hearts in any capacity. City Hearts has zero tolerance for racism or discrimination of any kind. An inclusive workplace is fundamental to our culture, and we expect everyone associated with City Hearts to uphold these values.”

The trustees express their gratitude to Jenny Gilpin for the pioneering spirit and courage she showed 15 years ago, in founding City Hearts to support vulnerable women, which has now gone on to support thousands of victims of human trafficking.
