After almost eleven years at Causeway, six of which have been spent at the helm, our fantastic CEO Ed Newton has made the decision to move on at the end of the year.

Geoff Cheshire, Causeway’s Chair of Trustees, said: “I want to share our thanks and appreciation to Ed for all that he has achieved for Causeway.

Ed has led and guided us on a journey that included various challenges, such as leading the team through the period of the pandemic, establishing our new brand, vision and values, and relaunching us in a new direction as Causeway. I commend Ed for his steady hand, thoughtfulness, and determination to set us in a new direction.

“We are committed to delivering an effective transition plan, reinforcing the top team to provide resilience and stability, and continuing to focus our priorities on looking after the people who rely on us for support.

“We will shortly begin the search for a new CEO and will work hard to recruit the very best person to build on the legacy Ed will leave.

In the meantime, I want to thank Ed for being such an inspirational leader and colleague to work with, and for enabling our voice to be so clearly heard."

Following the successful rebrand of the organisation at the end of 2022, it was important to Ed to ensure twelve months of ongoing consistency for the charity while it find its feet and develops in its new identity. This means Ed will be officially departing in November of this year.

Ed said: "It has been a privilege to have been a part of the team creating lasting change for the thousands of people supported by Causeway over the past ten years.

"It’s been an amazing journey, and I would like to thank the exceptional team of people, many of whom are now close friends, that I have worked alongside.

To all of our staff, partners, volunteers and trustees, thank you.

And to every survivor, to every person breaking free from the cycle of crime and exploitation; your courage and resilience continues to inspire and motivate me. It has been an honour to work alongside you to strive for change until your voices are heard, your value is known, and your contributions are recognised in our society.

As I move on to the next challenge, I know that Causeway will continue to develop and grow in strength and influence, so that we can build the fairer and more understanding society that we all want and deserve.”

In the meantime, the search for our new CEO will begin in the coming weeks… watch this space!
