City Hearts are proud to be a Disability Confident employer!

This week we officially obtained our ‘Disability Confident – Committed Status’ as an employer!

This means that as an organisation and team we’re committed to ensuring our recruitment process is as inclusive as possible and that we support employees with disabilities to stay in work.

People and Culture Manager, Alison Connolly, said: “We want to show prospective and existing employees that we are committed to ensuring all of our practices are as inclusive as possible.

“The Disability Confident Scheme helps guide us through our recruitment process to ensure that job vacancies are accessible, and that we are also able to support our staff members who are disabled, or who may become disabled during their employment.

“Having this status also opens up the candidate pool for us. The badge will sit on our recruitment pages and platforms so that candidates with disabilities will hopefully be more encouraged to apply for roles with us, as they know they will receive support from City Hearts both during the recruitment process, and if they become a member of the team.

“As City Hearts supports such a diverse group of people, it is absolutely essential that we have a diverse workforce with different lived experiences, and that includes disability.

“Going forward, there will be some changes to the way we do things, primarily in relation to advertising jobs – ensuring the information regarding roles is accessible for all, this ranges from changes in the way job information is presented to candidates, and ways in which candidates can apply for roles.

“It does not mean that our work here is done, and whilst having this accreditation shows our commitment to providing the support and making some immediate adjustments, it also means making necessary adjustments and improvements on an ongoing basis, to ensure we’re always doing the right thing by our employees.

“Our aim is always to create a supportive and positive workspace for everybody, and this is another step we have taken to ensure we can achieve this in all of what we do!”
